Honest Invoices is built and run by Vix Hawley, founder of Airtisan. No VC, no offshore call centres, no enterprise sales team. Just one person reading the HMRC spec cover-to-cover so you don’t have to.
From the founder
Why I built this.
I’m Vix Hawley — software engineer, former maths and English teacher, founder of Airtisan, and the only person who works on Honest Invoices. I built this because a friend’s dad — a plumber — was paying £35/month for accounting software he didn’t understand, didn’t use, and didn’t know was about to be made “wrong” by Making Tax Digital. He’d never heard of MTD.
Since then, local businesses have started using it too — including New Forest Country Store, an independent equestrian and country store in Ringwood, who use it for their invoicing. (Full disclosure: I built their online shop as well.)
Making Tax Digital started in April 2026 for people earning over £50,000. From April 2027 it covers sole traders earning over £30,000, and from April 2028, over £20,000 — which is a lot of people, in every kind of work. The big accounting platforms were designed for accountants, not for someone finishing a tutoring session at 8pm who just wants to send an invoice and get on with the evening.
So I built it myself, including the connection to HMRC. We're now waiting for HMRC to switch on filing, and the moment it's on, you'll be able to file from the app.

Your £15/month is locked the day you sign up. It’s the price you’ll be paying in three years. It’s written into our terms, not just a marketing line.
No selling your data
You pay £15/month. We make software. That’s the deal. No ad networks, no data resale, no surveillance baked in.
No support tickets
Email goes straight to the founder. No queues, no offshore call centres, no "I’ll escalate that to my team lead". You’ll reach the person who can fix it.
No bloat
Invoicing, MTD ITSA, time tracking, materials. That’s the scope. We’re not bolting on payroll, CRM, or "multi-entity reporting" so we can charge more next year.
